Sea Urchins can live for hundreds of years. Purple sea urchins are infamous for creating urchin barrens by depleting the kelp necessary for numerous different species to thrive, in turn creating ecological deserts where treasure troves of diversity should be. Plus, the spines and shells are currently utilized as fodder for gravel, making this an untapped natural product source.
